How AI bill negotiation works
You can now negotiate bills without picking up the phone — right inside the AI assistant you already use. Here's what's actually happening behind the scenes, what AI can and can't do, and how to try it.
What AI can do about your bills
- Spot the opportunity. Tell your assistant a bill looks too high — "my internet bill jumped to $95" — and it can check whether that bill type is negotiable and what the playbook is.
- Prepare the case. AI is excellent at the paperwork: reading the bill, identifying the provider's retention patterns, drafting what to say, and tracking what was promised.
- Verify the outcome. This is the part most services skip: checking your actual bank statements to prove the saving is real, not just promised.
What AI can't (yet) do
- It can't sign things for you. Starting a negotiation is a decision with consequences — any serious service requires your explicit approval before contacting a provider. If an "AI negotiator" starts calling companies without asking, that's a red flag, not a feature.
- It can't verify without access. Savings claims are only as good as the verification behind them. Read-only bank access (via services like Plaid) is how "we saved you $X" becomes provable.
- It doesn't replace judgment on complex bills. Medical bills with errors, insurance with coverage trade-offs — these need human review alongside the AI. The best systems pair both.
How Dueback works inside ChatGPT and Claude
- Mention a bill. In ChatGPT or Claude, with the Dueback skill or connector added, just say something like "my phone bill went up to $110 — can anything be done?"
- Get a verdict. The assistant checks the bill against negotiation playbooks and tells you plainly whether it's worth pursuing — and what the expected saving looks like.
- Approve explicitly. Nothing starts without your say-so. When you approve, Dueback's specialists take it from there.
- Pay only on proof. Savings are verified against your statements. No verified savings means $0 — and every negotiation carries a 30-day reversion guarantee.
Why this matters
The old model of bill negotiation was: find a service, upload bills to a website, wait. The AI-native model is: mention it in conversation. The assistant you already talk to every day becomes the front door — no new app, no forms, no phone calls. That's the whole bet behind Dueback: negotiation as a sentence, not a project.
Try it in one sentence
Add the Dueback skill, mention a bill that looks too high, and see what comes back. Free to try — pay only on verified savings.
